In Thailand, we represented Ciments Français S.A., the international arm of Italcementi Group, the world’s fourth-largest cement producer, in its acquisition and restructuring of Jalaprathan Cement Public Company Limited. The transaction was the first to be successfully completed under the Thai government’s corporate debt restructuring program. We also have advised on such major recapitalizations and insolvencies as the debt restructuring of the Thai Wah Group and Tuntex and the refinancing of Samart Corporation. We advised the creditors committee in the debt restructuring of Swedish Motors Corporation Pcl., the manufacturer and distributor of Volvo cars in Thailand. Other major clients include Thai Cane Paper, Thai Lube Base, Bangkok Rubber and Nakornthai Strip Mill (NSM) in their corporate and debt restructurings.
