Akaraporn
Kulvijit is a partner in the litigation and arbitration practice at Weerawong
C&P. His professional excellence has been consistently recognized by
leading legal publications. With over a decade of experience, Akaraporn advises
and represents both domestic and international clients in a wide range of
complex disputes, including commercial litigation, shareholder disputes,
wrongful acts, white-collar crime, insurance claims, and employment and labor
law issues. He has successfully led legal teams through all stages of dispute
resolution, from strategic pre-litigation planning and negotiation to trial
advocacy. His work is often recognized for achieving practical results while
maintaining the highest professional standards, strategic insight, and strong
courtroom advocacy. Professional Activities
Akaraporn
advised on the development of notary public laws at the Ministry of Justice. He
also serves on the committee of the Young Thailand Arbitration Center (YTHAC)
and was cited in an official commentary on the 1958 New York Convention. In
addition, Akaraporn regularly lectures at leading Thai law schools on
litigation, arbitration, labor law, and practical legal skills. Recent
Experience Representation of
AIA Company Limited (Thailand), one of the largest life
insurance companies in Thailand, in precedent-setting cases for insurance policies in Thailand. AIA
is defending multiple cases related to a life insurance policy held by tens of thousands of
customers. These cases will set precedents for consumer protection as well as insurance law in
Thailand. Representation of ASEAN’s leading exhibition organizer and a member of the world’s
leading event organizer, which organizes high-profile industry events throughout the world, in
connection with a series of disputes and cases involving white collar disputes, commercial and
labour matters. Representation of ECC Chiangmai Project 1 Co., Ltd. (“ECC”), the owner and operator of a community mall
in Chiangmai, in bankruptcy and insolvency cases filed simultaneously, resulting in ECC being forced
to suspend its operations. Weerawong C&P enabled the company to operate during the receivership
and negotiated with creditors to receive a debt reconciliation over THB 3,000 million. Moreover, the
team brought famous-franchises such as KFC, Starbucks and one of the biggest construction materials
store of Thailand to sign an agreement with the Client, adding value to ECC operations. This is the
first case in Thailand where the business remained in operation despite obtaining an absolute
receivership order from the Central Bankruptcy Court. (2019-2020) Representation of a major multinational oil and gas corporation in relation to a USD 15 million claim with the
Ministry of Transport and the Administrative Court for additional compensation for land
appropriation, challenging the order of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand.
2020 Representation of an
Indonesian entrepreneur in several civil and criminal disputes with the co-owner of a technology and
cloud computing business in Thailand. The case involved control of the company, as well as
cross-border embezzlement of funds and misappropriation of investments procured through many
successive years of fraud. The amount in dispute was USD 25 million. (2019) Defending the chief executive officer of a real estate company and other eminent
personnel involved in an offence regarding the filing of a false criminal charge against the former
CEO in connection with a major shopping mall project in Phuket. Representation of a leading property developer in
Thailand in the prosecution of a white-collar crime case in relation to fraud against one of
the top managers of the company. (2018) Representation of a major Thai airline in several civil matters, including a dispute
in relation to the payment of a loan agreement valued at THB 1.5 billion (approximately USD 50
million). (2016-2017) Representation of a major sugar production company in Thailand, a member of one of the largest Japanese
corporate groups, in the prosecution of a case in relation to fraud as well as the improvement of
internal systems. (2018) Representation of
a major Thai airline in several civil matters, including a
dispute in relation to the payment of a loan agreement valued at THB 1.5 billion (approximately USD
