National Firm of the Year – IFLR Asia Awards 2015

Weerawong, Chinnavat & Peangpanor (WC&P) has been honored with the distinction of receiving the prestigious National Firm of the Year award for the second consecutive year at the 2015 IFLR Asia Awards. WC&P is the only Thai firm to receive an International Financial Law Review (IFLR) award in 2014 and 2015. In the IFLR1000 Financial and Corporate Guide, WC&P has received high rankings for 5 consecutive years, with Weerawong, Chinnavat and Peangpanor named as leading lawyers. The M&A team has consistently been ranked in Tier 1, "The Thai firm boasts a highly effective corporate M&A practice wherein they have won and attained many accolades. Highlight deals in 2013 and 2014 include Weerawong Chittmittrapap's advice to Siam Commercial Bank on the equity sale of Siam Commercial Samaggi Insurance. Elsewhere partner Peangpanor Boonklum advised Ananda Development on a joint venture deal with Mitsui Fudason Residential's subsidiary, SEA Investment. In the natural resources sector, Boonklum also advised PTT Public Company in the sale of its 45% stake in Vietnam LPG to PetroVietnam Southern Gas, PTT's joint venture partner."

Our Capital Markets practice has also been ranked in Tier 1 for the 5th consecutive year, "The strong bench of lawyers are specialized in high value domestic and international securities offerings and remain active advising on equity and debt instruments, private placements and public offerings. WC&P advised on Thailand's first ever exchangeable bonds issuance and offering with executive partner Peangpanor Boonklum and partner Veeranuch Thammavaranucupt on the team. Partner Pakdee Paknara assisted MFC Asset Management on the establishment of Hemaraj Industrial Property and Leasehold Fund. In June 2013, the firm represented Nok Air on its corporate restructuring and IPO on the SET."

The strength of the Restructuring & Insolvency team is also highlighted, "In line with tradition, WC&P acts on high profile and innovative deals in Thailand. The firm was instructed by Saha Farms and Krung Thai Bank on the largest restructuring and insolvency case filed with the Bankruptcy Court in 2014. Elsewhere Chinnavat Chinsangaram advised on the business rehabilitation petition of Saha Farms."

The Banking and Finance team "... has served local as well as international clients. Highly regarded partner Passawan Navanithikul acted for Bangkok Bank and Kasikornbank as lenders in a loan facility to True Visions Group subsidiaries, True DTT and Thai News Network. In a Thailand-Mauritius deal, Navanithikul advised HSBC as lender of a facility to MHG Deep Blue Financing. She was also involved in advising Amata Corporation in obtaining facilities for the construction of two power plants, the Amata B Grimm Power 4 and Amata B Grimm Power 5."
